AI (and technology in general) can be used to increase output and productivity, but it decreases meaning. If I want to give a gift, a hand-knitted scarf means more than one I bought from the store. On the other hand, if I’m writing a server for a nature preservation organization, they don’t care whether it is handmade or completely generated as long as it works. So if I am producing an item, it’s important to ponder, how much of its value comes from its utility vs its meaning?
